Two Definitions of Economics

Forex Forex Forex Forex

It can be stated that “Economics is the study of mankind in the standard ordinary business of life; it examines that part of individual and social action which is most closely connected with the attainment and with the use of the material prerequisites of well being.”

It can also be said that the significance of the fact that the means of satisfying human needs and wants are available only in limited quantities , so that when these means are employed to achieve the objectives of parceling out limited resources , other objectives must by necessity be relinquished/

Thus economics can be considered as a science which studies human behaviour as a relationship between ends and scarce means .

The “Aging Boomer”

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

In January 2006, Strategic Guidance Consulting completed a comprehensive study entitled, The Aging Baby Boomer, which provides a fascinating view of their attitudes about retirement.

Aging. Boomers don’t equate retirement with age. They also feel they’ll live well past 80 years of age.

Work. Boomers want to continue being valuable – and valued – members of society. In Canada, over 50% plan to work in retirement, feeling that working longer means staying active. A Merrill Lynch study in the US puts that number even higher – over 75%. However, an even more interesting finding is that over 50% of those who wish to continue working will be doing a job that is “different than the one they had.”

Home. A significant number plan to retire in their current homes rather than purchase  a “retirement home” or spend winters in the sun.

Spending. Boomers don’t plan on adjusting their lifestyles – or spending – in retirement.

Myths Concerning the National Debt, aren’t any Debt Bad?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Not necessarily. Most households are in  debt, for their cars, appliances, houses, credit card purchases, and so on. And practically every business in the country is in debt, to pay, for inventories, equipment and facilities. As consumers and businesses have found, debt can be very useful if it is properly managed. As with debt in general, the dangers associated with the National Debt lie not with debt itself, but rather with excessive debt, as we will see.

Still more of the US automakers bailout and its effect on the global foreign currency markets.   The amazing part of all of  this seems to be the lack of concern on the integrity of the very functioning of the values and underpinning of the bond , credit and foreign interactions of the global financial and forex currency trading systems:

Amazing Part of Obama

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

There can be said to to be several parts concerning the Obama “administration”  and its effects on the world economy and the forex foreign currency trading situation.

First of all while the American public elected Mr. Obama the rest of the world is rather concerned.  Its an interconnected world – an foreign currency is the jam or the oil that makes it all work well .  On top of that the dollar numbers involved in the “bailouts”  are beyond comprehension.  Yet foreign governments are watching their holdings , in US dollar demominations , being played around by people of little real experience or background , like a financial planner saying jokingly ( or not so jokingly ) , that he will “play around”  or “we can play around”  with money you have set aside for investments.  Hard earned money at that.  What a bunch of children and crooks.  And yet the environmentalist Mr. Obama flies to Hawaii in an almost empty jumbo jet.

Robert Reich’s Blog: How Obama Can Succeed in the Next Hundred … – The stimulus and bank bailouts have required the government to pump almost $1.5 trillion into the economy and the Federal Reserve Board to dramatically expand the money supply. This makes sense in the short term. …

Barack Obama: Screw You! | American Conservative Daily – Yes, that’s right, “mutate” into something “unhealthy” — that’s how Barack Obama’s administration responded to those patriotic Americans who opposed trillions of dollars in out-of-control federal spending, and who also opposed bailouts …

April 21: Obama leaves the door open for prosecution of federal …

The Bailout Is a Fraud That Could Bring Down Obama | Corporate … – Inflation will kick in. More trillions for the Macs will be needed. Housing isn’t going to recover and stocks will be forty percent below what many paid for them for a long time. Obama will go down. And of course the black media and …

Effects of Protectionist Trade Policies

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Retaliation to this event – the passing of the Smoot-Hawley protectionist trade bill through both American legislative houses , the House of Representatives & the US Senate itself , was not long in coming.  Warnings had been ignored – economic , trade and foreign currency effects of this protectionist trade policy , and the predicted but ignored results were not long in coming.

The purpose of the act itself may have been noble , to protect jobs and the US dollar at ” home”  yet the effects in the end were catastrophic and took years and years of  economic activity and indeed the great war of World War II to undo the economic damages and the effects on foreign currencies and foreign currency trading.     As an example and economic market  in the year following the American stock market crash , the U.S. unemployment rate was  7.8 % while 3 years later it had escalated to a a full 25 %.

One of the first counties to retaliate in what might be considered a protectionist trade war was Canada which imposed tariffs and surcharges on 125 major  products – which were major exports of the US and indeed Canada served as a major import market – as well as a means of foreign trade with its inherent effects on the values and inherent desirability of holding and trading these two major currencies.
